Concert for Violin, Piano and String Quartet, Op. 21

Ernest Chausson

Itzhak Perlman, Jorge Bolet / Juilliard String Quartet

1983

Gil's top choice. Perlman brings beautiful sweetness, Bolet was a wonderful pianist for French repertoire, and the Juilliard play immaculately. Great for this colorful, romantic, and 'melodramatic' work.

Jacques Thibaud, Alfred Cortot / International Quartet

1931 Very primitive sound.

Not one to get for the color, but one to get for that really romantic, dramatic flavor. Cortot was a very imaginative artist.
