An 'iconic Janáček set' and Gil's top recommendation. Firkušný, also Moravian, studied under Janáček and 'obviously has the feel of these works.' He plays with 'beautiful tone, beautiful color, [and a] wonderful feel for the rhythms of the Moravian folk music.' Very well recorded.
